Rossmann with a new record year
5000 shops in Europe - and no end to the growth trend
The drugstore chain Rossmann has once again reported positive results for 2024: With annual sales of 15.3 billion euros and growth of a good ten per cent, the Group achieved another record year with its 5,000 shops in Europe, the company announced. In Germany, Rossmann currently operates a good 2,300 drugstores and achieved an increase in sales of six per cent to 9.9 billion euros. The chain also has stores in Albania, Kosovo, Denmark, Poland, Hungary, Spain, the Czech Republic and Turkey. The first shop was opened in Switzerland in December 2024.
Private labels in the eco-trend
The company's own brands with innovative products and sustainable packaging made a strong contribution to sales and growth. The proportion of recycled materials in Rossmann's product packaging was 45 per cent in 2024 and is set to rise further. With the reopening of a shop near the company headquarters in Burgwedel near Hanover, the shop concept has also been modernised with warmer colours and lighting designs as well as wooden elements. This year, the Group intends to further increase its growth rate and invest 540 million euros - 150 million euros more than in the previous year. According to the company, it plans to open 330 new shops, 75 of which will be in Germany.
Good care for staff
Over the past two years, the company has paid its 39,700 employees in Germany a tax-free inflation compensation bonus totalling 105 million euros. "The bonus gives the company the flexibility to give employees a financial share if the business figures develop well," said Raoul Rossmann, CEO. At the same time, the company changed its articles of association so that in future one per cent of the profit and one per cent of the equity of Rossmann Beteiligungs-GmbH will be donated - currently this would correspond to around 20 million euros. Large sums were donated to food banks and regional projects.
