Müller takes over Migros branches in Zurich
New store concept planned for city centres in former Alnatura branches
The drugstore chain Müller is introducing a new local supply concept for care products in Switzerland in spring 2026. At the turn of the year, Müller will take over ten locations from the Migros Cooperative Zurich, which will continue to be operated as Alnatura organic supermarkets until the end of the year. In future, customers will find a wide range of drugstore items in Müller stores, from personal care and cosmetics to health products. Migros Zurich is one of ten regional cooperatives of Migros in Switzerland. It also has three subsidiaries focusing on retail, fitness and catering.
New local supplier concept
According to the company, the new store format is intended to fill a gap in the local supply of goods in city centres. "The new local supply stores in central locations are designed to impress with their proximity to residential areas, speed and suitability for everyday use," says Elke Menold from the retail group's management team. The takeover of the locations coincides with Müller's 20th anniversary in Switzerland. The retail giant currently operates 91 branches there and plans to open seven more and expand three locations this year.
Expanding market position
With the new local supply stores, the retail group aims to further expand its market position and add an innovative format to its portfolio. With around 190,000 items, Müller sees itself as the brand store with the widest range in Switzerland. This includes 11,000 items available specifically for the Swiss market. Müller is the only retail group in the country that offers perfumery, natural cosmetics, household goods, over-the-counter medicines and health products in addition to drugstore, toy and stationery items.
