The Fragrance Foundation Germany has presented the 34th edition of the German perfume award ‘DUFTSTARS’ in Düsseldorf to the industry’s finest fragrance creations, brands and personalities. In the lifestyle fragrances category, the winners were the women’s eau de parfum ‘Sweet Tooth’ by Sabrina Carpenter and the men’s fragrance ‘Era Elixir’ by Jaguar. The DUFTSTAR in the ‘Prestige Men’ category went to ‘Paradigme’ by Prada. In the ‘Prestige Women’ category, there were even two winners this year: ‘La Bomba’ by Carolina Herrera and ‘for her eau de parfum intense’ by Narciso Rodriguez. The award-winning perfumer Sonia Constant also offered insights into her creative work and the art of modern perfumery.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Among the classics, the jury selected ‘J’adore Eau de Parfum’ by Dior and ‘Bleu de Chanel’ Eau de Parfum by Chanel. The jury named ‘Choose Happiness’ by the German brand Emil Élise as the best fragrance in the ‘Luxury Niche’ category, whilst ‘Oud Voyager’ by Tom Ford won in the ‘Exclusive’ category. The award for “Bottle Design” also went to “La Bomba”. “Fragrances are not a trivial matter – they are among the last analogue experiences that create memories and bring people together,” said Udo Heuser, President of the Fragrance Foundation. The DUFTSTARS recognise the industry’s creative excellence as well as those individuals who shape the fragrance market with their ideas and innovations. The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Henning Kreke, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Douglas, and posthumously to his father, Jörn Kreke.

People’s Choice Award goes to influencer

In addition, the winners of the People’s Choice categories were honoured, having been determined by a digital vote from consumers. The winners were the women’s fragrance “Libre L’eau Nue” by YSL Beauté and “Paradigme” by Prada for men. Voters chose influencer Shanti Joan Tan, with her channel @scentedbyshanti, as Best Creator. The award for ‘Best Store’ went to the team at the Douglas flagship store in Cologne.
