Two Formulas in One Glass Bottle

Bormioli Luigi develops first dual-chamber glass bottle with “Indue”

Italian packaging manufacturer Bormioli Luigi has developed “Indue”, a dual-chamber glass bottle specifically designed for cosmetic formulations. Traditionally made primarily from plastic, this packaging solution is intended for cosmetic formulations whose active ingredients need to be stored separately and mixed only at the time of application. This can be particularly useful for vitamin C, for example, whose stability and antioxidant properties may be reduced by exposure to air or combination with other active ingredients. Bormioli Luigi also sees potential applications for niacinamide, retinol and biphasic formulations containing water- and oil-based components.

New Pump from Aptar

The two separate chambers differ in size and are designed for a typical mixing ratio of two-thirds to one-third. The glass bottle also offers a premium appearance. The Indue concept was presented together with a specially designed dispensing pump developed in collaboration with packaging manufacturer Aptar Beauty. The pump dispenses the required amount from each chamber, combining the formulations at the moment of application.

Wide Range of Customisation Options

With this innovation, Bormioli Luigi aims to combine the characteristic properties of glass, such as transparency, purity, durability, recyclability and design appeal, with the protection of sensitive formulations. The goal is to provide manufacturers with a complete packaging solution that can be adapted to different cosmetic products. In addition to customised designs and decorations, various filling capacities, chamber sizes and matching pumps are available. The name “Indue” comes from Italian and means “as a pair” or “both together”.
