International dispenser system supplier Aptar Beauty has developed a customised, environmentally friendly dual-chamber packaging for the ninth generation of Clarins' best-selling Double Serum. The three-year development phase involved several production sites and the development of new moulds and tools on specialised machines. The patented two-in-one dispensing system combines two highly effective hydro and lipid serums in one bottle and allows for variable dosing – from a single drop to a full pump. The packaging is available in 30, 50, 75 and 100 millilitre sizes.

Double-chamber bottle with variable dosage

The new bottle combines a transparent outer casing with an inner bottle that appears to float inside, allowing the formula to remain visible. The rotating ring dispenses progressively larger doses when turned to the left, and turning it to the right locks the capless system. The entire packaging solution is made from 94 percent recyclable materials and contains 24 percent recycled material, the companies emphasise. 85 percent is made from recycled PET. Screen printing and lacquering on the recycled materials have also been made technically possible. Product development for all four sizes took place at several Aptar sites in France and Italy, with manufacturing at other industrial sites to secure production and supply chains.

The project showcases the potential of customised solutions, the company's technical know-how and production synergies. Aptar Beauty specialises in premium packaging and operates seven production sites in Europe for international cosmetics brands. Founded in Paris in 1954, Clarins is a family-owned company known worldwide for its skincare, cosmetics and fragrance products.
