Technology for greater wellness

According to Mintel, technological innovations are shaping the future of the beauty industry

The international market research company Mintel has observed a growing convergence of modern technologies with cosmetics, beauty and housekeeping. Forty-three per cent of German consumers are already investing in smart home solutions. The beauty tech market is growing by 13 per cent annually. "We are at the beginning of a technological revolution that is redefining our understanding of self-care and home comfort," Mintel emphasises. Among other things, morning routines are becoming increasingly intelligent. Functional toothpaste enriched with vitamin B12 shows that oral care can also serve as a dietary supplement. Ultrasonic skin care devices with zirconia ceramics are designed to improve the absorption of active ingredients while remaining hypoallergenic.

Personalisation is growing

According to Mintel, everyday wellness and personalised offerings are reaching new heights. Digital fragrance devices create individual perfume blends designed to boost self-confidence. Hair styling tools with interchangeable attachments reduce space and energy requirements. This is an advantage for the 41 per cent of German singles who live in small flats, according to Mintel. The workplace at home or in the office is also becoming a wellness hub thanks to infrared light devices that stimulate blood circulation and reduce mental fatigue. Massage chairs in company lounges also offer deep tissue therapy.

Tools for skin and hair

According to London-based market research experts, the evening hours are increasingly becoming personalised spa time. IPL hair removal devices with light pulses and a cooling function are designed to help reduce hair growth professionally and gently at home. Facial skin toning devices use collagen gels in different modes for hydration, firming and the eye area. Compact devices for small living spaces, energy-efficient multi-tools and recyclable materials are particularly in demand. 73 per cent of consumers expect sustainable technology solutions in particular. Mintel also predicts new developments such as skin analysis devices that detect nutrient deficiencies and personalised wellness algorithms that adapt to biorhythms. "The integration of technology into beauty and household products is becoming a necessity for companies," according to the market researchers.
