In France, so-called ‘forever chemicals’ in cosmetic products and cleaning agents will be banned as far as possible from 2026. The National Assembly in Paris has approved a Green Party bill by a large majority. The ban affects products that contain dangerous and highly environmentally harmful perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl compounds (PFAS). They are used in household products and cosmetics due to their water and dirt-repellent properties, but hardly degrade in the environment.
