Skincare meets colour

Essence collaborates with influencer Leon ‘xskincare’ to develop make-up with skincare benefits

The cosmetics brand essence, owned by manufacturer Cosnova, has developed a limited-edition make-up collection in collaboration with skincare expert and influencer Leon “xskincare”. The five products in the “xskincare x essence Trend Edition” combine make-up properties with skin-barrier-friendly formulations and skincare benefits, thereby tapping into a key trend in the beauty market, the German family-owned company announced. The collection is available for a limited time in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Leon is regarded as Germany’s most successful skincare influencer. A qualified cosmetics product developer, he has a total of 2.7 million followers on Instagram and TikTok under his social media handle xskincare (“Skinfluencer”).

Powder puffs and lip products

Cosnova emphasises that skincare is increasingly becoming an integral part of decorative cosmetics. Ingredients used include ceramides, peptides, hyaluronic acid, betaine, shea butter and vitamin E. The five products include the moisturising ‘Barrier Hydra Fix+ Prime & Set Spray’, the ‘Loose Blur Refining Finishing Powder’ and the ‘SPF 50+ Super Peptide Glossy Lip Treatment’. Reusable cat-shaped powder sponges also feature a design inspired by the cats Lelo and Lolo from Leon xskincare. This gives the collection a strong personal connection to Leon.

High-quality formulations at affordable prices

During development, essence combined its experience in decorative cosmetics with Leon xskincare’s expertise in ingredients. “Thanks to Leon’s know-how, we were able to integrate skincare benefits even more effectively into the product development process,” explains Bülent Özdemir, Global Brand Director for essence at Cosnova. Both partners also wanted to demonstrate that high-quality formulations do not necessarily have to cost a fortune and should be accessible to all consumers. Leon xskincare also sees this as a key common ground in the collaboration: “Our aim is to get the very best out of the products and to offer the best quality at an even better price.” He advocates simple, minimalist skincare routines.
