The Munich-based packaging manufacturer Corpack has unveiled a powder compact made entirely from polypropylene (PP). Only the optional, removable mirror is not made from PP. The 59-millimetre compact does not use metal pins in the hinge, a metal tray or adhesive – instead, the PP tray is mechanically clicked into place. The lid, base and hinge are also manufactured from a single piece, the company explained. The format is suitable for pressed powder, blush, eyeshadow and similar pressed formulations, and the finish can be adapted to suit different brands. The single-material design is a response to the increasing requirements of the EU Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which places greater emphasis on recyclability.
