Sea buckthorn leaves against environmental stress

Gattefossé presents new active ingredient for skin care

The French active ingredient specialist Gattefossé has introduced Noxifense, a new, purely plant-based bioactive ingredient that protects sensitive skin holistically against environmental influences. Environmental factors such as UV radiation, air pollution and cigarette smoke attack the lipid structure of the skin and trigger a vicious circle of oxidation and inflammation - so-called oxi-inflammation. Noxifens counteracts this, neutralizes free radicals and inhibits inflammatory processes at the lipid barrier of the epidermis, the company emphasizes. This noticeably reduces the skin's feeling of tightness and redness and strengthens the skin's natural defense mechanisms.

Luminosity for sensitive types

Noxifense contains a high proportion of plant-based ingredients such as flavonol glycosides and ellagitannins, which, according to clinical studies, have been proven to promote skin soothing and support the natural regeneration process. As a result, even very sensitive skin types regain luminosity and comfort even under adverse environmental conditions. “More and more people are becoming sensitive to environmental stress,” explains Laurie Canel, Head of Product Marketing at Gattefossé. “With Noxifense, we offer a comprehensive approach that protects the skin lipids and interrupts oxi-inflammation.” The active ingredient is versatile and can be used in various products such as serums, creams and lotions. Noxifense not only supports the health of the skin, but also contributes to a youthful and radiant appearance, emphasizes Marketing Manager Paula Lopes.

Beauty from the second row

The active ingredient is extracted from the leaves of the sea buckthorn bush, which remain unused in the food industry. Gattefossé uses an energy-efficient, sustainable extraction process to produce it, which preserves the natural antioxidants and anti-inflammatory polyphenols. The raw material comes from a certified organic family plantation in Québec, Canada. The pressed fruit is then used to make juices and jams. Gattefossé is a French family business that has been developing innovative and natural ingredients for the health and beauty industry for more than a century. The company distributes its products in more than 80 countries worldwide.
