Science Council in favour of night care

Cosmetics giant Estée Lauder has appointed a scientific advisory board for innovative night creams

Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) recently invited leading experts to its China Innovation Labs in Shanghai to advance the science of night care and skincare innovation. The Advisory Board brought together leading external scientists and dermatologists from Asia with ELC researchers. The high-calibre panel of experts represented both basic and clinical research. They discussed the connections between sleep, the sleep-wake rhythm and skin recovery. They also addressed the question of how new findings can be better integrated into product development.

New solutions for Asia

The innovative solutions are initially intended to fulfil the needs and wishes of Chinese customers. "We hope to be able to utilise these findings throughout Asia and ultimately for all consumers worldwide," said Jane Anders, Senior Vice President Asia Innovation, R&D, Product and Packaging Development. With more than 40 years of research, ELC is at the forefront of nocturnal skin repair innovation, the group reported. Its commitment to research into night skin has led to a number of scientific discoveries and new product developments. Recent launches include the Advanced Night Repair Overnight Treatment from Estée Lauder and the NEW Rejuvenating Night Cream from La Mer.

Better understanding of biological processes

The new Scientific Advisory Board embodies the Group's scientific values and enables new breakthroughs, said Nadine Pernodet, Senior Vice President Bioscience, Advanced Technology Pioneering. "We look forward to incorporating the latest findings from this meeting into future treatments and therapies for night-time skincare." Professor Yung Hou Wong, Advisory Board Member and Chair of Bioscience at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, also said: "Understanding the biological processes at night is critical to advancing the approach to skin health. By working with ELC, we can translate this knowledge into innovative solutions that improve our understanding and efficacy of skin care."
