Organic lid for Mojave Ghost
Sulapac and FaiveleyTech develop eco-design for Byredo bottles
Swedish perfume house Byredo has commissioned plastic injection moulding expert FaiveleyTech to design a cap for its fragrance "Mojave Ghost. Absolu de Parfum" fragrance. Made from a biocomposite material, the black bottle cap mimics the visual effects of Japanese burnt wood and is designed to match the raw, authentic character of the fragrance composition, according to Helsinki-based biotech company Sulapac. The sustainable material also reduces the use of fossil raw materials and minimises the CO2 footprint.
Cap holds magnetically
A particularly complex engraving technique is used in toolmaking to produce the specially developed cap with the appearance of charred wood. The cap can be magnetically attached to the bottle. The FaiveleyTech team is proud of the exclusive, bold and original creation for Byredo, says Sales Director Beryl Tomaschett. The product is reminiscent of ancient craftsmanship and nature at the same time. "The result emphasises the original signature of the brand in both the fragrance and the packaging," says Tomaschett. The "Mojave Ghost" project confirms the good cooperation between FaiveleyTech and Sulapac, who regularly work together to develop environmentally friendly solutions made from biomaterials for the beauty and luxury industry in order to promote sustainable development.
Solution to plastic waste
In addition to the wood ageing effect specially developed for the Swedish luxury brand, Sulapac and FaiveleyTech offer various colour shades and material qualities for different applications. FaiveleyTech regularly supports brands in solving technical and aesthetic challenges. Sulapac is an award-winning materials innovation company solving the global plastics crisis. The developers replace conventional plastic with sustainable materials. This enables companies to reduce their CO2 footprint, combat marine pollution caused by microplastics and drive forward the circular economy. The company was founded in 2016 by three scientists and now supplies customers on three continents. Its investors include Chanel, among others.
