Nivea serum for skin rejuvenation

Beiersdorf launches classic product with skin-rejuvenating active ingredient

Beiersdorf is bringing its next skin-rejuvenating serum to the mass market with Nivea Cellular Epigenetics. According to the company, the product contains the epigenetic active ingredient Epicelline, which is said to rejuvenate the skin and activate the longevity of skin cells. The active ingredient was already launched internationally in 2024 via Eucerin. Beiersdorf wants to lead international skin research in the field of longevity with innovative developments, emphasised CEO Vincent Warnery. As a pioneer in epigenetic research, which deals with changes in gene activity, Beiersdorf relies on scientifically proven ingredients.

The influence of environmental factors

Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Epigenetic Serum already contains the active ingredient epicelline. Following the largest product launch in the history of Beiersdorf's derma brands, the skin rejuvenation solution is now also being launched on the global market with the classic Nivea brand. For decades, it was assumed that the way skin ages is determined solely by genetics, the company reports. However, research in the field of epigenetics has now shown that external factors such as lifestyle and the environment can have a direct influence on cell activity and thus on the skin. For example, a twin living in a large city with a high UV index shows differences in biological skin age and signs of ageing such as wrinkles, elasticity and radiance compared to a twin living in a less stressful environment.

Reversal within two weeks

Scientists at Beiersdorf discovered Epicelline after more than 15 years of research. The active ingredient can neutralise external ageing factors and even reverse their effects. The serum slows down the skin ageing process at the cellular level and makes it possible to reverse skin ageing within two weeks. "Our patented, skin-specific Age Clock technology helps us identify active ingredients and solutions that make people look younger than they really are," says Gitta Neuanfang, Chief Research and Development Officer at Beiersdorf. The rejuvenating Nivea serum is available in the first European countries and is expected to be available in 30 countries worldwide by the end of the year. The launch will continue in 2026.
