Niche fragrances for the masses
Oriflame presents ‘Top Scents’, a range of affordable perfumes
The Swedish cosmetics and perfume manufacturer Oriflame has launched “Top Scents”, a collection of niche fragrances created in collaboration with the Givaudan School of Perfumery near Paris. The company stated that the aim is to make niche perfumes more accessible to a wider customer base without compromising on craftsmanship and quality. Seven up-and-coming perfumers took part in a competition comprising six challenges to create the fragrances. The result is a range of six niche fragrances, each with its own distinct character.
A look behind the scenes
The creations were judged by a panel of renowned perfumers. The final selection was made by around 400 beauty entrepreneurs at a global conference. A YouTube series also offers a behind-the-scenes look at fragrance development. The first episode, dedicated to the ‘Rose Mode’ Eau de Parfum, is already available and showcases the concept development and creative process behind the final fragrance. “Rose Mode”, created by junior perfumer Julie Noé, is available for €60 and is described as a floral-woody fragrance with musk extracts from Givaudan. “Neon Oud” by Andrea Montanari combines a woody-amber scent with notes of fruit and smoke.
New network for perfumes
Oriflame has been helping people build their own businesses since 1967. Today, this includes more than three million independent beauty businesses in over 60 countries. The ‘Top Scents’ series aims to extend the company’s philosophy to the world of perfumes and nurture new talent. The project brings together seven young perfumers from Japan, Poland, France, Italy, the USA, South Africa and Brazil. Further products from the collection are set to follow later this year.
