Mushroom science for the skin
Seppic introduces Ganocalm, a new active ingredient for sensitive skin
The French company Seppic has developed a new cosmetic active ingredient for sensitive skin based on the reishi mushroom, which is traditionally used in Asia for its medicinal, soothing properties. The medicinal mushroom, which is native to the mountains of China, belongs to the group of adaptogen mushrooms, which contain bioactive substances. They help the body to adapt better to stressful situations. With the botanical extract Ganocalm, Seppic is expanding its range of products for sensitive skin with a natural solution that promotes greater well-being in just a few minutes. Ganocalm soothes unpleasant sensations and other symptoms by reducing dryness, burning and redness, emphasizes Seppic. It soothes and moisturizes the skin.
Less stinging on the skin
Due to its high triterpene content, the reishi mushroom has many benefits and is widely used in traditional Chinese medicine. “Thanks to its triple action, the active ingredient meets the needs of consumers looking for a natural and effective solution with an immediate soothing effect,” says Seppic Product Manager Céline Hanani. The active ingredient changes the activation of sensory receptors and has been shown in clinical studies to reduce stinging on the skin by 15.6 times compared to placebos after just five minutes of application. Limited local inflammation and redness were reduced by two and a half times within the first hour and skin hydration was also significantly increased after one hour.
Comprehensively certified
According to Seppic, half of the world's population has sensitive or very sensitive skin. The active ingredient developers were therefore inspired by nature. The product is Cosmos and NaTrue certified and is based entirely on natural ingredients in accordance with ISO standard 16128. It is also Halal-certified and complies with Chinese regulations. SEPPIC produces and distributes specialty ingredients for the personal care and cosmetics industry. The company is a subsidiary of the Air-Liquide Group and has been part of its healthcare division since 1986.
