BASF presents new natural-based Emulgade Verde line
BASF Care Chemicals has presented a new natural-based emulsifier line for personal care: The new ingredients under the names Emulgade Verde 10 OL and Emulgade Verde 10 MS. The new products are intended to serve several new trends in the personal care industry. According to BASF, Emulgade Verde 10 is particularly suitable for cold manufacturing processes and enables cost, time and energy savings. The ingredient can also be used as a single-use emulsifier for sprayable emulsions such as sunscreen sprays. Emulgade Verde 10 MS serves as a strong, flexible all-rounder.
Natural ingredients
The new line offers a range of sustainability benefits: Both oil-in-water emulsifiers are based entirely on renewable raw materials, are manufactured according to green chemistry principles and are readily biodegradable. They are approved by the Cosmos and Natrue labels and can be classified as “near-natural ingredients”. They are suitable for vegan formulations that come without animal testing and are compatible with a wide range of skin care products such as emollients and many other ingredients.
Mildness for sensitive skin
Dermatological tests of both emulsifiers on test subjects with sensitive skin showed no reactions. According to BASF, this confirms their mildness and shows that the Emulgade Verde line is well suited for sensitive skin. Further tests showed that they can also be used for microbiome-friendly concepts. In a four-week application test on facial skin, they were also classified as non-irritating or acne-causing.
Focus on sustainability
According to BASF, the Emulgade Verde line shows that the Care Chemicals division is facing up to the future challenges of sustainability. The division's extensive portfolio comprises ingredients for the cosmetics, detergents and cleaning agents industry, including surfactants, emulsifiers, polymers, emollients, cosmetic active ingredients and UV filters.
