Mallow for a youthful complexion
Croda introduces longevity active ingredient derived from Chinese fruits
British specialty chemicals supplier Croda has introduced Malvallin, a new cosmetic active ingredient designed to promote youthful-looking, radiant skin. The patent-pending ingredient is derived from the fruit of the Chinese mallow and, according to the company, is 100 per cent of natural origin. It is said to contribute to the biological functions of the subcutaneous tissue, dermis and epidermis through a multifunctional approach, giving the skin greater firmness and radiance.
Activated genes support cells
According to the company, Malvallin acts at a cellular level. Among other things, it is said to stimulate processes in lipid metabolism. It is also said to activate genes such as PLIN2, which are involved in lipid storage. Perilipin 2 encodes a protein that stabilises the surface of intracellular lipid droplets. It plays a central role in lipid metabolism. At the same time, it is said to support the cells in order to improve the skin’s firmness and cohesion. The new active ingredient is thus primarily aimed at the growing trend towards preventive skincare and longevity.
Eye-tracking shows increased attention
According to clinical studies, Malvallin has helped to improve the appearance of the skin, the company announced. Roughness and redness have been reduced. Hydration and radiance of the complexion had increased within 28 days. A change in the cheek area, for example, had also been observed using 3D scanning. Croda also refers to eye-tracking analyses, according to which treated areas of the face received increased attention. The company guarantees transparent sourcing and sustainable raw material sources. According to Croda, the active ingredient is vegan, COSMOS-certified and approved for the Chinese market. The market for anti-ageing skincare could reach US$70 billion by 2030, says Croda. Croda is exhibiting at CosmeticBusiness in Hall 2 at Stand D11.
