Kneipp doubles production space
Company opens new factory at its headquarters near Würzburg
The long-established company Kneipp has opened a new factory building at its headquarters in Ochsenfurt-Hohestadt near Würzburg. With an investment of around 65 million euros, the production area has been doubled from around 5,000 to 10,000 square metres. In addition, facilities have been modernised and automation and digital processes have been advanced. The company emphasised that the expansion marks a milestone in its history spanning more than 135 years. It lays the foundation for growth and product innovations for the health and cosmetics brand.
Faster response to market demands
The company emphasised that this, the largest single investment in its history, also represents a commitment to its site in Mainfranken, its sole production location. “With the new plant, we are strengthening the ‘Made in Germany’ brand,” said Katharina Höhne, Chair of the Kneipp Group. The company is investing not only in premises, but also in skills, increased capacity, more efficient processes and automation. Kneipp needs state-of-the-art facilities to be able to respond more quickly to markets and thus remain agile. “With this plant, we are creating the conditions for this. With double the production space, we will be able to manufacture even more products here ourselves in future.” The site currently employs around 430 people.
From Mainfranken to the world
Kneipp supplies 16 countries in Europe and Asia from its Ochsenfurt-Hohestadt site. In addition to production, the headquarters also houses administration, research and development. According to the company, the product range comprises around 480 products in the areas of bathing and showering, skincare, dietary supplements and herbal medicines. Already today, around 94 per cent of the products are manufactured in Germany. The company was founded in 1891 by Sebastian Kneipp together with the Würzburg pharmacist Leonhard Oberhäußer. Today, Kneipp is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Paul Hartmann AG in Heidenheim.
