IKW warns of business relocations
Industry report criticises heavy regulatory pressure on the beauty care sector
The German Cosmetic, Toiletry, Perfumery and Detergent Association (IKW) warned of increasing pressures on Germany as a business location when it presented its
annual report
. “The situation is serious: 40 per cent of our member companies are considering relocating or ceasing operations,” said IKW Chair Gabriele Hässig of Procter & Gamble and Managing Director Thomas Keiser. This poses a concrete threat to value creation and jobs in Germany. “The main cause is a flood of impractical regulations that stifle innovation – such as the EU Waste Water Directive and the handling of ethanol,” Hässig and Keiser continued. The beauty and home care products sector achieved a new record turnover of €35.6 billion in 2025.
