The German Cosmetic, Toiletry, Perfumery and Detergent Association (IKW) warned of increasing pressures on Germany as a business location when it presented its annual report . “The situation is serious: 40 per cent of our member companies are considering relocating or ceasing operations,” said IKW Chair Gabriele Hässig of Procter & Gamble and Managing Director Thomas Keiser. This poses a concrete threat to value creation and jobs in Germany. “The main cause is a flood of impractical regulations that stifle innovation – such as the EU Waste Water Directive and the handling of ethanol,” Hässig and Keiser continued. The beauty and home care products sector achieved a new record turnover of €35.6 billion in 2025.
