Help against hereditary hair loss
Dr Wolff presents study on the effectiveness of DMG and caffeine
The Bielefeld-based family business Dr Wolff has presented new ways to combat hair loss. The Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology published a study involving 154 men affected by hair loss on the effectiveness of dimethylglycine (DMG) and caffeine against hereditary hair loss. It has been shown that the combination of DMG and caffeine reduces hair loss in men. DMG improves microcirculation in the scalp and the supply to the hair roots, while caffeine provides additional stimulation.
Comparison shows good results
In the study, subjects who used a shampoo containing DMG-Na and caffeine daily for six months lost less hair than the placebo group. "The clinical efficacy of this shampoo shows significant potential against hereditary hair loss and delivers good results without undesirable side effects," explains study leader Leonardo Celleno. In addition, a significant improvement in hair density was observed. Alpecin Caffeine DMG Shampoo and the accompanying serum from Dr Wolff contain this patented combination of active ingredients and, according to the company, are considered a well-tolerated, scientifically proven option for combating hair loss.
A formula for women too
Starting this autumn, Dr Wolff will also be launching its patented formula for women: Plantur DMG Clinical Shampoo and Plantur DMG Clinical Serum are two products available for women of all ages. The products have been specially developed for women suffering from hair loss and thinning hair. Their effectiveness has also been tested in a six-month study involving 154 women. The shampoo supplies the scalp with DMG and caffeine every time the hair is washed. On days when the hair is not washed, the serum is applied to the parting to ensure that the hair roots are nourished on a daily basis.
