Hardly any sun protection in winter
According to a new IKW survey, the majority of Germans do not use UV protection
For the majority of people in Germany, sun protection in winter is not a matter of course, even though UV radiation can damage the skin even in the cold season. In a new survey by the German Cosmetic, Toiletry, Perfumery and Detergent Association (IKW), 54 percent of respondents said they do not use sunscreen in autumn and winter. Forty-eight per cent consider sun protection to be less important in winter than in summer. At the same time, 59 per cent said they pay more attention to sun protection today than they did in the past, with the figure rising to 65 per cent among women – yet only 17.7 per cent apply sunscreen daily.
