The Swiss company Neopac is the first tube manufacturer in Europe to receive the demanding European RecyClass certification for recycled plastics. The audit in accordance with the “RecyClass EN 15343” standard for the production site in Debrecen, Hungary, has been successfully completed, the company announced. The European standard regulates the procedures for the traceability of recycled plastics, the calculation of the recycled content and ensuring that the plastics meet consistent standards. According to Neopac, the standard is becoming increasingly important for the entire supply chain of recycled plastics.

Global player in the tube business

“Our certification is a significant milestone in our sustainability strategy,” says Philippe Kern, Director of Research and Development and Quality Management. “The audit is extremely detailed and product-related. It checks very precisely whether the recycled content in our tubes corresponds exactly to what we state.” The long-established family business is a global supplier of high-quality pharmaceutical, beauty and dental packaging. Neopac's plant in Debrecen produces up to 450 million sustainable tubes per year, including Polyfoil EcoPro tubes and tubes with a high recycled content. With its 290 employees, the site plays a key role in the global supply of sustainable tubes.

EU regulations actively implemented

The successful audit confirms Neopac's leading role in the sustainable packaging industry and shows how the company is actively responding to legal requirements. In the face of increasing EU regulations such as the plastic tax, which is currently being implemented, and EPR fees for the recycling and disposal of products and packaging, Neopac is positioning itself as a strong partner for environmentally friendly packaging solutions.
