The Hamburg-based specialist in cosmetic raw materials, Berg + Schmidt Care Ingredients, is expanding its existing skincare portfolio to include hair care. The company aims to support brands with its in-house expertise, particularly in the development of innovative products for functional restoration in hair care. The first three products are designed to provide suitable care for every hair type, from the roots to the tips, according to the company. With its nature-inspired hair care segment, Berg + Schmidt also aims to offer more personalised solutions tailored to different care needs and designed to reduce hair damage.

Three formulas for shiny hair

According to the company, BergaCare Re-Lite contains no silicones or polyquats, yet still meets the requirements for an effective, lightweight hair care formula. The combination of glycolic acid, arginine and a cationic biopolymer strengthens, nourishes and protects the hair from within. BergaCare C-Shine, a film-forming ingredient, is designed to give hair a natural-looking shine and suppleness by better reflecting incident light. It is available in different viscosity grades for various hair types. With BergaCare Ceramide NG, Berg + Schmidt has transferred so-called ceramides – previously used primarily in high-quality skincare – to the hair fibre and scalp.

In-house formulation expertise

The new active ingredients are already being used in various products. Berg + Schmidt Care Ingredients is an established supplier of plant-based, multifunctional cosmetic raw materials and has its own formulation department. In-house laboratories develop customised solutions for sustainable cosmetics. Berg + Schmidt is exhibiting at CosmeticBusiness in Hall 2 at Stand D22.
