Focus on CO2-based surfactants
Chemical company and start-up collaborate on carbon dioxide utilisation
Speciality chemicals manufacturer Zschimmer & Schwarz and deep tech start-up Viridi are planning to collaborate on the market launch of Viridi's technology for producing sustainable surfactants. The new development makes it possible to use captured carbon dioxide as a renewable carbon source for chemical production, the companies announced. Zschimmer & Schwarz has tested various potential applications and wants to improve the sustainability of its products and the efficiency of its production processes by implementing the technology. The collaboration should open up potential for a new generation of surfactants, said Matthias Hofmann, head of development at Zschimmer & Schwarz. The long-term goal is to recycle CO2 and become independent of fossil raw materials and energy sources, added Viridi CEO Daniel Stewart. Further information ...
