Estée Lauder opens biotech centre in Belgium

New site produces plant-based raw materials for global cosmetics brands

The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) have opened a biotech hub near their Belgian production and distribution site in Oevel. The new centre focuses on the development and production of bio-based raw materials, the renowned cosmetics group announced. The engineers and scientists are working on identifying active biomolecules from plants, yeast and bacteria for skin care products. The company aims to promote the sustainability of its development and manufacturing processes by using bio-based alternatives to conventional ingredients.
