Estée Lauder Acquires Forest Essentials

Indian Brand of High-Quality Ayurvedic Products Set to Expand Globally

Estée Lauder has acquired the remaining shares of the Indian cosmetics brand Forest Essentials. The goal of the acquisition is to expand the Ayurvedic brand and market it worldwide. The American conglomerate had already acquired a minority stake in 2008 and increased its share to 49 percent in 2020. According to Estée Lauder, the brand has translated the artistry of Indian beauty care into high-quality formulations and currently operates around 200 retail stores. Forest Essentials was founded 25 years ago in New Delhi by entrepreneur Mira Kulkarni and could expect further double-digit revenue growth following the acquisition – while remaining under the leadership of Mira Kulkarni and her son.
