Encapsulation of a collagen peptide

Croda develops ‘Matrixyl Neolide’ for greater efficacy

The British specialty chemicals company Croda has announced the launch of Matrixyl Neolide, a further development of a well-known peptide technology in skincare. Since its introduction in the 1990s, the pro-ageing active ingredient Matrixyl has established itself in skincare and contributes to firmer, healthier-looking skin. With Matrixyl Neolide, Croda is building on this tradition and introducing submicron lipid encapsulation. The new, patented technology is designed to protect the peptide in cosmetic formulations and release it gradually into the skin. According to Croda, this approach ensures a consistent, long-lasting effect with controlled peptide release for up to 15 days.

Simplified formulations

According to the company, clinical data showed that Matrixyl Neolide produced visible skin firming after just two weeks. Tests revealed a 25 per cent improvement. “Matrixyl Neolide represents a natural next step in development,” says Sandra Breene, President of the Consumer Care division. The innovation is designed to help customers succeed in the fast-moving premium segment and contributes to simpler formulation. Thanks to its greater stability and improved predictability, the ingredient enables the development of robust products. At the same time, it accelerates development times and supports the scaling of production.

Effective with microneedling

According to Croda, Matrixyl Neolide is compatible with modern skincare routines and professional treatments. It is highly compatible with microneedling, supports skin regeneration and, when used in conjunction with microneedling, leads to a significant increase in collagen III production. The ingredient is 99.79 per cent of natural origin, vegan, free from trifluoroacetic acids and RSPO-compliant. Compared to the original Matrixyl, it has a 43 per cent lower carbon footprint. Croda International is a specialty chemicals company that develops ingredients and other solutions for consumer goods and life sciences, employing nearly 6,000 people across 91 sites in 36 countries. Croda is exhibiting the new active ingredient at CosmeticBusiness in Hall 2 at Stand D11.
