Eastman and Kolmar sign agreement
Partnership aims to promote biodegradable personal care solutions
US chemical company Eastman and South Korean cosmetics manufacturer Kolmar have signed a memorandum of understanding for the production of biodegradable personal care solutions. The collaboration will initially focus on Eastman's Esmeri technology, a cellulose ester micropowder for decorative cosmetics, the new version of which, according to the company, meets biodegradability requirements. “Kolmar’s end-to-end manufacturing capabilities and global reach will be integral in scaling access to Esmeri and other personal care innovations”, said Eastman Vice President Travis Smith. The collaboration could also extend to other ingredients for cosmetics and fragrances in the future. “We are excited to collaborate with Eastman to combine their unique technology with our global consumer insights and deep expertise in K-beauty to accelerate sustainable growth for both companies”, said Kolmar CTO Han Sang-keun.
