Decision-makers from the cosmetics industry value the opportunity to meet their entire supplier network at CosmeticBusiness in Munich every year, allowing them to exchange ideas and network efficiently.
According to the visitor analysis, 71 per cent of this year’s trade visitors have a significant influence on purchasing decisions. A further 21 per cent are involved in an advisory capacity.
The professional fields represented also reflect this decision-making authority: 35 per cent of visitors work in management, one in five is responsible for purchasing or product management, and more than 20 per cent are involved in development – either in formulation (12 per cent) or packaging design (10 per cent). They are joined by experts from marketing, sales and logistics.
For exhibiting companies, this mix provided the opportunity to engage with relevant contacts from the cosmetics industry and exchange ideas on everything from the initial product concept to the selection of suitable ingredients, manufacturing processes and packaging solutions.
From young brands to established cosmetics manufacturers
The industry gathering was used primarily by cosmetics brand owners to meet suppliers covering everything from raw materials to packaging. At CosmeticBusiness, 37 per cent of visitors are involved in creating products for their cosmetics brand portfolio.
One in five trade visitors is a cosmetics manufacturer and also produces on behalf of other brands and retail chains. Around 4 per cent of visitors came from the retail sector to source products for their own brands. Around one in five visitors is a service provider or supplier along the cosmetics value chain and likewise relies on intensive exchange and networking at the trade fair.
This mix creates a wide range of opportunities for discussion – from developing new products and building supplier relationships to further developing existing ranges and production processes.
Christine Steger, Managing Director of MANN & SCHRÖDER COSMETICS GROUP, particularly highlights the exchange across the industry: “CosmeticBusiness is an important industry meeting place for us. We value the trade fair as a platform where the entire value chain comes together. It is precisely this exchange on an equal footing – between brands, manufacturers, suppliers and innovation drivers – that makes the trade fair particularly valuable to me.”
Broad product range in demand
Trade visitors’ interests covered the entire cosmetics range. More than half were primarily looking for solutions and inspiration for skincare, closely followed by active cosmetics, natural cosmetics, haircare and colour cosmetics.
Perfumes, shower and bath products and other product categories were also relevant to trade visitors.
Solutions for the premium and niche markets were in greatest demand, with products sold online or through beauty institutes, pharmacies or perfumeries.
Products from 30 per cent of visitors are listed in drugstores, while around 10 per cent of products are sold through discounters in the mass-market segment.
International trade audience
As a forward-looking source of inspiration, CosmeticBusiness presented visitors from more than 50 countries with innovations and trends across the entire cosmetics value chain. The most important international countries of origin included Austria, Switzerland, Poland, Italy and the Netherlands.
