45 million for new logistics
Henkel expands high-bay warehouse in Düsseldorf
Following a two-year construction period, the Henkel Group has opened a new high-bay warehouse in Düsseldorf at a cost of around 45 million euros. Together with the existing, fully automated warehouse, this creates a 24,000-square-metre logistics centre capable of storing more than 200,000 pallets. With what is Europe’s largest consumer goods warehouse, Henkel aims to consolidate its storage capacity for cleaning and hair care products. By consolidating several sites and establishing a direct rail link to the Bavarian production site in Wassertrüdingen – which manufactures hair care products for the European market – transport distances will be reduced whilst efficiency and sustainability are improved. At the same time, the investment represents a commitment to Düsseldorf as Henkel’s home base, said Henkel CEO Carsten Knobel.
