Solid wood, pure luxury

Guerlain and Quadpack opt for plastic-free closures

French luxury perfume house Guerlain and international packaging specialist Quadpack have launched a new collaboration: for the limited edition perfume "Habit Rouge Spirit", Quadpack has developed, manufactured and decorated a monomaterial cap made from FSC-certified ash wood, based on the high-quality Woodacity Hidden wooden closure. The company emphasises that the patented closure system works like plastic but is based exclusively on wood from controlled forestry. The system is available with click and friction closure variants for different pump systems.

Ash wood for a horse fragrance

In 1965, brand founder Jacques Guerlain developed Habit Rouge, the first woody-amber fragrance for men in the history of perfumery, as a tribute to equestrian sports. To mark its 60th anniversary, the fragrance has been reinterpreted in a limited edition this year. Woodacity Hidden was the obvious choice for this. Guerlain is gradually switching its premium products from fossil-based plastics to recycled or bio-based raw materials and has already integrated wood into the packaging of various products. Habit Rouge Spirit now uses ash wood and maple from sustainably managed forests, which is processed at Quadpack Wood's low-emission production facility in Catalonia. Quadpack emphasises that the material is an ideal match for the fragrance composition, which is refined in oak barrels.

Eco-design from Spain

The two-piece combination of cap and ring from Woodacity Hidden conceals the ribbed pattern inside, creating an elegant, minimalist appearance. A water-based, biodegradable adhesive is used to join the components, further minimising environmental impact. FSC-certified material with full traceability is offered as an option with Woodacity Hidden. In addition, the closure can be disposed of without separation after use. Quadpack emphasises that Woodacity also offers other customised exterior shapes and decorations to match the respective brand identity without compromising the ecological balance.
