From jars and tubes

Well packaged: CosmeticBusiness presents sustainable trends

The international packaging industry is following the cosmetics industry's trend towards ecological and natural products: More and more new products are focussing on refillable packaging, circular economy and sustainability through recyclable raw materials. The latest trends and innovations will be presented at this year's CosmeticBusiness on 4 and 5 June 2025 in Munich. Here is an overview of the most important innovations:

Trend 1: Clever closures - less material, more recycling

Smarter closure, less plastic: intelligent packaging solutions help to save material. Packaging supplier Albéa, for example, is expanding its EcoTop range with a fusion of tube head and cap, thereby significantly reducing plastic, weight and CO2emissions. The KM Packaging Group is now also using a flip-top closure - a shoulderless cap that is placed on top of the tube and is particularly suitable for lightweight, sustainable tubes. The Bavarian packaging specialist Linhardt and the southern German manufacturer SHB-Packaging are pursuing similar strategies. Their closure systems are also considered to be significantly lighter, more sustainable and more climate-friendly than their predecessors. Aptar Beauty, meanwhile, is presenting new all-plastic pumps that are designed for the most important plastic recycling streams and are therefore significantly more sustainable.

Trend 2: Porcelain instead of plastic - elegant and reusable

Instead of plastic, more and more manufacturers are turning to high-quality, recyclable materials such as glass, porcelain and aluminium. Tianshi, for example, is presenting a refillable airless dispenser made of porcelain with replaceable PCR cartridges at CosmeticBusiness. The company will also be showing a tool with glass ampoules for skin care products. Corpack from Munich is showing a modular, refillable glass jar that also saves material. Bavarian system supplier Packsys and the Tubex Group are presenting an aluminium tube with an integrated application aid. The brush is simply screwed onto the thread and enables precise application of liquid media. Meanwhile, the young Swedish company Meadow is presenting its Kapsul technology: an aluminium can that can be filled as a cartridge with soaps, shampoos and other products and inserted into a reusable dispenser. Quadpack has developed a new Dropify Bottle, a glass bottle with a soft-button dispenser for products with low viscosity, and private label manufacturer Nölken has developed a refill set for self-mixing detergents. The concentrate in the sachet is topped up at home with tap water and saves 92 per cent on packaging.

Trend 3: With glamour and glitter - new optical effects

In addition to the megatrend of sustainability, CosmeticBusiness also sets new visual accents with special visual effects: The plastic colour supplier Lifocolor will be presenting upcoming colour trends under the title "Shades of Inspiration". The company will also be presenting coated glitter pigments that create holographic effects when exposed to light. They also create a special optical depth and lustre. The Edelmann Group is presenting high-quality packaging such as for the "Black Opium" perfume. They stand out with haptic effects that match the perfume bottle perfectly, creating a visual unity of bottle and packaging. The designs for the Marbert fragrance range also turn the packaging into small works of art.

CosmeticBusiness will take place on 4 and 5 June 2025 at the MOC Munich. Tickets are available in the online ticket shop .
