Feeling good in your own skin
German Skincare Consumer Report: majority value healthy products
Consumers in Germany are increasingly paying attention to good protection, care and personal well-being when it comes to skincare products. These are the findings of the latest German Skincare Consumer Report from YouGov. According to the survey, 49 percent of consumers in Germany attach importance to skin protection when purchasing skincare products. The baby boomer generation in particular places importance on skin protection (69 percent). In the GenZ of those born from 1997 onwards, the figure is only 44 percent!
Focus on beauty and health
In addition, well-being and feeling good on the skin are the main reasons for buying skincare products: 36% of respondents want their skin to feel good and 28% attach importance to feeling good with the products. It is striking that 34 percent of GenZ use skincare for health reasons, while 38 percent of Gen X use it to prevent or combat signs of ageing. 56 percent of skincare shoppers said they had used day creams in the past twelve months. This is followed by sunscreens, cleansers and night creams.
Great interest in hyaluronic acid
A quarter of skincare product users said they wanted to try products with hyaluronic acid in the next twelve months, as it gives the skin a youthful, elastic and smooth appearance. While most generations focus on hyaluronic acid products, GenZ is particularly interested in products with vitamin C. For 16 percent, clean beauty products that are free from harmful substances and based on natural ingredients are of great interest. The statements are based on a YouGov survey from fall 2024 with 1,000 representatively selected participants aged 18 and over.
