Catrice and essence achieve record sales
Cosnova Group works on many innovations – and continues to grow
The German Cosnova Group, which owns the cosmetics brands essence and Catrice, achieved record sales of 954 million euros in 2024. This represents a growth of 17 per cent, the company announced. Despite the challenging market situation, sales have doubled within three years. ‘We have consistently invested in the further development of our brands, our portfolio and our company,’ said Javier González, founder and president of Cosnova. With the idea of making high-quality cosmetic products accessible to everyone at attractive prices, Catrice and essence are conquering growing market shares in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa. According to the company, Essence products such as eye make-up, lip care, blushers and powders were among the best-selling products in the ‘Decorative Cosmetics’ category in dm stores in Germany in 2024.
In-house AI ‘Cosnova GPT’
Cosnova sees itself as a trendsetter in the cosmetics market and aims to trigger social media hypes among its target groups with its product innovations. The changeover to the spring and summer 2024 range was the most successful product update in Cosnova's more than 20-year history. Cosnova is also investing in the modernisation of its sales areas. 25,000 metres of shop counters have been renewed, about 70 percent of essence's sales areas in beauty shops worldwide. This year, Catrice is to start modernising. At the same time, the manufacturer is further diversifying its portfolio. With INAO Skin Care from essence and Farm loves Face, the company is responding to the high demand for skin care products. In addition, the company has been using its own artificial intelligence ‘Cosnova GPT’ since October to support employees in all areas.
Saving and donating
Sustainability is also highly relevant at Cosnova: for example, new essence brushes are expected to save 172 tonnes of CO2. Recycled materials are used in new Catrice nail polishes. In addition, the company has committed to donating a portion of its profits. In 2024, that was almost four million euros. Cosnova also supports the fight against violence against women with its initiative ‘Cosnova says NO’ and donated a six-figure amount to the cause in 2024. Cosnova Beauty, with around 900 employees worldwide, is headquartered in Germany and markets the cosmetics brands essence and Catrice in 90 countries around the world.
