Unilever Aims to Harness Computer-Designed Enzymes
Unilever and the U.S.-based synthetic biology company Arzeda have entered a strategic partnership.
According to the companies, they aim to apply the latest advances in digital biology to discovering and designing new enzymes. Over the next three years, Unilever is said to apply Arzeda’s digital biology techniques to its own product innovations across its cleaning and laundry portfolio. Arzeda learns from the enzymes already in nature, and uses a combination of physics-based computational protein design and deep learning to optimise their functionalities.
