Shiseido is investing in the development and production of ingredients based on microalgae. The manufacturer has entered into a strategic partnership with the Japanese biotechnology company Chitose, which is already working to build a sustainable microalgae-based industry as part of its Matsuri project. Shiseido is supporting this project with 1 billion yen. Microalgae use carbon dioxide to produce organic compounds such as proteins, fats or carbohydrates.
