Age-appropriate care - with the power of nature

CosmeticBusiness shows the most important trends in innovative ingredients

The cosmetics industry is undergoing fundamental change: newly discovered and traditional plant-based active ingredients are increasingly finding their way into innovative formulations. Clean beauty products with biotechnological active ingredients that dispense with questionable ingredients and use environmentally friendly processes are also among the megatrends at this year's CosmeticBusiness on 4 and 5 June 2025 in Munich. Added to this is increasingly age-appropriate skincare for all generations. Here is an overview of the most important innovations:

Trend 1: Traditional or newly discovered - the magic of plants

Specialists for active ingredients in cosmetic products are now looking into old books on Asian healing arts or decoding nature in a completely new way. Novoclon, for example, uses the stem cells of grapevines simulate the healing power of fasting to rejuvenate the skin. Seppic uses an extract from the traditional Asian reishi mushroom to help people with sensitive skin, and SLI Chemicals combines the natural components bakuchiol and baobab seed oil for well ageing applications. It comes from the seeds of the baobab tree, reduces wrinkles and promotes a healthy complexion for best-agers. The Paris-based company Summit Cosmetics is also presenting a coconut-based self-emulsifier. The product follows another important cosmetics trend: less is more.

Trend 2: Fresh from the sea - the power of algae

The trade fair motto "Where Beauty Starts" also takes visitors to the seashore: several exhibitors will be showing how maritime raw materials can contribute to healthy cosmetics. At CosmeticBusiness, the specialised Hamburg-based company MaBitec will be presenting natural algae active ingredients with special fragrances for more sensuality. It also has an extract from the seaweed Phyllacantha fibrosa to activate the skin's own fat burning process. Meanwhile, NCD Ingredients is presenting a sustainable, biomimetic hybrid lip care product based on microalgae. It is designed to help reduce signs of ageing while restoring vitality and radiance. According to the company, when age, menopause and lifestyle habits take their toll, it is time to celebrate the beauty of longevity.

Trend 3: Suitable for all ages - the right skincare

Every generation has its own needs - this also applies to skincare. As knowledge grows, cosmetics manufacturers are increasingly catering to these needs. The Provital Group, for example, is presenting a new product for women in their prime at the Munich trade fair: A bacterium, which is otherwise also used to promote plant growth, reduces sebum production and the size of the skin's pores while improving its elasticity. Other manufacturers are also focussing on age-appropriate applications. Neo Cos, for example, is presenting a new Clean Beauty Elements series with twelve active complexes that can be flexibly integrated into any formulation.

CosmeticBusiness will take place on 4 and 5 June 2025 at the MOC Munich. Tickets are available in the online ticket shop.
