MAPABAK, INCI: BAKUCHIOL
MAPABAK is obtained from the seeds of the Indian babchi plant (Psoralea corylifolia) and is a skincare and therapeutic product frequently used in the Ayurveda and traditional Chinese systems of medicine. MAPABAK is considered to be a natural alternative to retinol. Numerous comparative studies show that MAPABAK has similar functional properties to retinol but does not cause the undesirable side-effects associated with retinol usage.
MAPABAK can be used in any cosmetic product. It has antibacterial
and anti-inflammatory properties and is also an antioxidant. It
is suitable for both dry and sensitive skin that is intolerant of retinol, as well as for acne treatments and oily skin. MAPABAK demonstrably reduces wrinkles and liver spots, stimulates collagen production and is effective for UV-related skin damage. Other typical applications include oral care and athlete’s foot. In a medical context, MAPABAK is used to treat conditions such as vitiligo.
