Cardboard Packaging for Cosmetics Awarded
As part of its '2020 E-vent & Awards', the European association of carton and cartonboard manufacturers Pro Carton announced the winners of this year's European Carton Excellence Awards. Among the 22 award winners were several packaging solutions for cosmetic products.
For example, the cardboard sleeve designed by Mayr-Melnhof Packaging for Diadermine Peeling Mousse won a Platinum Award. The sleeve's curved form sets it apart from other products on the shelf, while also calling attention to the responsible use of environmental resources.
Promotional Appeal, Closures and Manipulation Protection Were Big Winners
The Edelmann Group won the category General Packaging – Virgin Fibre with its cardboard packaging for Isana Cosmetics by Rossmann. The folding boxes stand out with their combination of rosette-shaped closures and accompanying graphics depicting diamonds and roses. Windows on two sides of the boxes give the consumer a glimpse of the product. Inside the box, five vials are fixed to a cardboard base.
Posson won the Gold Award for its tamper-proof box for cotton buds made for the Groupe Lemoine. The carton replaced the previous plastic-based solution and, according to the winners, can be opened and closed with just the flick of a finger.
Publicity for Cardboard as a Packaging Material
The European Carton Excellence Awards are said to be Europe's most prominent competition for paper-based packaging. With the awards, the group Pro Carton hopes to present the possibilities of cardboard and paper-based packaging as a recyclable and biodegradable solution.
