CosmeticBusiness Celebrates a Successful Restart
The trade show's comeback on 20 and 21 October exceeded the expectations of exhibitors and visitors
After a break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, suppliers and decision-makers from the cosmetics industry were finally able to meet again in person to exchange ideas at the MOC in Munich on 20 and 21 October. 272 exhibitors and represented companies from 19 countries used the 11,000 square meters of exhibition space to present their innovations for the development and marketing of cosmetic products.
"CosmeticBusiness was a huge success and celebrated a great restart. We can look back on two eventful days at the trade show, with satisfied exhibitors, enthusiastic visitors and a great spirit of optimism throughout the exhibition halls", says Markus Geisenberger, Chief Executive Officer of Leipziger Messe, as he takes stock of the first CosmeticBusiness since the beginning of the pandemic. "At the trade show, you could clearly see that exhibitors and visitors had been yearning for the face-to-face professional exchange of CosmeticBusiness. We are delighted that we once again were able to offer the industry this established platform for dialogue and knowledge transfer."
Exhibitors Come Away With Positive Verdict
Exhibitors were also satisfied with the restart of CosmeticBusiness – the majority responded "good" to "very good" when asked to evaluate the success of the trade show and the achievement of their goals. "The trade show went above and beyond our expectations. We were finally able to meet many of our existing customers in person again, as well make new contacts. You could really feel the spirit of optimism in the talks," says Harald Ballerstaedt, Managing Director of Ballerstaedt & Co. OHG.
Michael Pfeiffer, Chief Executive Officer at Pfeiffer Consulting GmbH, also came away on a positive note: "The number of visitors at this year's CosmeticBusiness was a real surprise to us. From the moment the gates opened in the morning until the evening, there was always lots going on at our stand. The visitors were really 'hungry' for exchange and new information."
There were visitors from 38 countries at this year's CosmeticBusiness, despite the ongoing pandemic. A total of 27 per cent of visitors came from abroad. The international trade show also welcomed 30 new exhibitors.
Trends and Innovations Particularly in Demand
There were new products and trends to discover in various formats at the trade show. For example, those interested were able to take a look into the future of colours and materials at the lecture "CB IMPULSE 2022 Beyond" by Niels Holger Wien. The colour expert and trend analyst was also available to answer questions in the INNOVATION CORNER as part of the "Meet the Expert" format on both days of the trade fair. The limited-edition CB IMPULSE colour card was also available to buy, and can still be ordered from the CosmeticBusiness website.
In the special show SPOTLIGHT, exhibitors also presented new products and innovations as part of the INNOVATION CORNER. The "INNOVATION ROUTE" led visitors to the stands of exhibitors that participated in the special show.
Sustainability Continues to Gain in Importance
Andreas Schabert, Managing Partner at brandpack GmbH, used his presentation to a packed lecture hall on the first day of the trade show to explain which sustainable packaging trends are shaping the cosmetics industry and which opportunities are being created, in particular by new materials, recycling and closed-loop systems. His topic struck a chord with the trade visitors.
You can find all the sustainable products and solutions offered by exhibitors at CosmeticBusiness 2021 on the event website in the “Exhibitors & Products” directory under the “GREEN ROUTE” filter.
Industry Looks to the Future with Optimism
After some challenging months, the majority of the cosmetics industry feels positive about the current situation and further developments. More than 70 per cent of visitors surveyed expect the overall economic situation in the industry to improve in the next two years relative to the time before the pandemic.
The majority of visitors already have their sights firmly set on future exchanges with suppliers and business partners at the CosmeticBusiness industry forum. 93 per cent plan to visit the international trade show again. Furthermore, 94 per cent of the visitors surveyed will recommend CosmeticBusiness to others. The next edition of the trade show will be held at MOC Munich from 1 to 2 June 2022.
