    First Winners of the NIVEA Accelerator "NX"

    Five Korean start-ups are about to enter a one-year partnership with Beiersdorf

    In December 2018, Beiersdorf announced that it was launching an innovation programme in the South Korean cosmetics market. The first round of the NIVEA Accelerator "NX" competition has now ended and the winners have been announced. Five South Korean start-ups can look forward to a one-year partnership with Beiersdorf.

    The Multi-level Competition

    The innovation competition in Seoul, South Korea, is Beiersdorf's first accelerator programme. More than 200 cosmetic start-ups were evaluated during the selection process with respect to their innovative capabilities, concept and ability to work as a team. In the finals, the ten best participants faced off in a pitch competition. An international jury of Beiersdorf employees from Germany and the Asia-Pacific locations, together with external experts, selected the five winners.

    Top Start-ups in South Korea

    Members of the top five start-ups in Seoul come from the fields of beauty technology, e-commerce and indie brands. The start-up Unpa is a beauty platform that uses Big Data for product development. The second winner, Reziena, has developed a beauty device with IFU technology to combat signs of ageing. The Limese e-commerce platform impressed with its innovative idea of bringing Korean cosmetics to the Indian market. The two final winners, Glowhill and Panda, are skin care start-ups.

    Prospect of a One-year Partnership

    Now, the winners can look forward to a one-year innovation partnership with Beiersdorf. In addition to capital investment, the start-ups can expect strategic cooperation and expert mentoring. Furthermore, the companies will be provided with office space that is free of charge.
