Rossmann Continues its Positive Development
Rossmann has now announced its business results for 2019 and also published a forecast for 2020. The German drugstore chain states that their positive business development in recent years has continued. Moreover, the company wants to continue to grow in the future - both at home and abroad.
Sales Growth in 2019
Last financial year, Rossmann achieved a turnover growth of 5.7 per cent amounting to 10 billion euros. According to their figures, turnover in Germany grew by 5.1 per cent to 7 billion euros. Rossmann operates 4,088 stores and has 56,200 employees in 7 European countries. According to Rossmann, the financial situation has developed positively - the share of equity capital has increased to 60 per cent of the balance sheet total.
New Branches Abroad
Rossmann states that the turnover of the foreign subsidiaries grew by 7.1 per cent to 3 billion euros in 2019. This means that foreign companies will contribute 30 per cent of the Group's turnover. The company currently operates 1,892 stores abroad. In 2020, Rossmann plans to open a new international branch in order to be represented in eight European countries. Over the course of the year, Rossmann will be opening three stores in Valencia, Spain.
Further Planned Expansion
The company plans to expand further. Rossmann says the investment volume in 2020 will be 200 million euros. 200 new branches will open their doors at home and abroad. In Germany, a total of 118 million euros will be invested, 70 million of which for 80 new stores and around 165 modernisations. The company also announced that the expansion will not follow a regional focus.
