    • According to Transparency Market Research (TMR), the global cosmetic packaging market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.4 % and reach $ 33 billion by 2024. The prime driver for this is the rising purchasing power of consumers in emerging regions. As stated by TRM, the material plastic accounted for more than a half (56 %) of the market in 2016 and is likely to retain a majority share.     • Alpla announced the biggest acquisition in the history of the company: The Austrian Packaging specialist takes over Boxmore Packaging, an African market leader headquartered in Samrand near Johannesburg. The company specialises in PET pre-forms, PET bottles and closures and currently employs around 1,000 members of staff at nine locations.     • According to its own statement, Beiersdorf is investing €230 million in a new headquarter and research centre in its home venue Hamburg-Eimsbüttel.     • According to packaging manufacturer Hoffmann Neopac, its Hungarian subsidiary Tu-Plast Tubeproducing will be known as Neopac Hungary from now on.     • As Avon announced, Miguel Fernandez will become Global President of the cosmetics group, effective August 14, 2017. He will therefore report directly to Avon's Chief Executive Officer, Sheri McCoy.     • According to the company’s own statement, six Henkel production sites in Europe have received certificates for operating in line with the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Supply Chain Certification Standard.     • According to its own statement, the supervisory committee of writing materials manufacturer Faber Castell designated Daniel Rogger from Switzerland as their new chairman.     • According the to the market research company Kantar Worldpanel, Spanish consumers spent €147 per person on beauty products in 2016 – a slight decline of 3 % compared to the prior year. The experts argue that the most commonly bought products are oral care (24.9 million buyers), hair care (24.7 million buyers), bath and shower products (21.8 million buyers) and deodorants (20.9 million buyers).     • According to Revlon, net sales for the first quarter of 2017 were $594.9 million, an increase of 35.3 % compared to the prior-year period, driven by the acquisition of Elizabeth Arden.     • At this year’s CosmeticBusiness, NCD Ingredients will be showcasing their new Natura-Tec Plantsoft Wax (hall 2, booth B11). According to NCD Ingredients, to make this, only natural ingredients were used. They were mixed in such a way as to create a product that both formed a film to protect the skin and had moisturising and emollient properties, as well as helping stabilise emulsions.     • Beiersdorf reported its results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2017, according to which the company’s organic sales increased 4.8 % versus the prior year period.
